Kilomathon England Introduces a New Chapter in Running
Martin Williams set the first ever Kilomathon world record today winning the inaugural 26.2km road race, which took place between Nottingham and Derby, in a time of 1hr 26mins. In what proved to be an extremely tight race from start to finish, the 32 year old from Wolverhampton, who also won the 2009 Edinburgh Marathon while qualifying for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, crossed the finish line just 3 seconds ahead of Christopher Wilson from Paisley with Tim Hartley finishing in third with a time of 1hr 27mins 14secs.

International interest in the World’s first Kilomathon

Interest in world’s first Kilomathon has been overwhelming. Around 6,000 runners from around the UK and across the globe will be descending on Nottingham/Derby area on the weekend of the 14th March to take part in a world first. 

The Kilomathon has such far reaching appeal that entrants are coming from as far north as the Shetland Islands (a mere 680 mile journey to Nottingham) and as far south as Cornwall to take part in the Worlds first Kilomathon.  Interest has not just been limited to the shores of the UK with entries coming from Europe, Asia and America. Entrants from Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Rep of Ireland, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates and USA will be coming to the East Midlands to run the in the worlds first 26.2 kilometre road race...read more.

Double Olympian Liz Yelling launches the Kilomathon™ UK Race Series

Double Olympian, Liz Yelling, launched the world's first Kilomathon™ at Pride Park, Derby.  The Kilomathon will be innovative new race distance of 26.2 kilometres (16.3 miles) in length. The race distance has been billed as 'the perfect race distance' for anyone who is training for a marathon or as a stand-alone challenge.

The world's first Kilomathon will take place between Nottingham and Derby on 14th March 2010, 6 weeks before the 2010 Virgin London Marathon. This road race will be the first of a UK wide series making up the Kilomathon-UK race series. The other races are planned for Edinburgh, Cardiff and Northern Ireland in 2010 and 2011....read more.
