Run for Age Scotland and help us to be there for older poeple in need.

We are the Scottish charity for older people. We stand with and support people in Scotland so they can grow older with security, are valued and connected and have a good quality of life.

Some of the ways we support older people.

Helpline

Helpline worker_3

Our helpline is a free, confidential phone service for older people, their carers and families in Scotland.

As we get older, we can face new challenges and opportunities. You may need to know about rights, organisations and services that are unfamiliar to you.

Our skilled advisers provide information and advice on a range of topics from money matters and benefits entitlements, to social care, housing, energy and legal issues. We also provide friendship for when you just need a chat. It's free to call and available Monday-Friday, 9-5pm

Community Groups

We have a vibrant network of member community groups across Scotland, offering a wide range of activities, social events and regular catch ups for older people. These groups bring older people together, strengthen community connections and create new friendships.

Dementia

With the number of people in Scotland living with dementia expected to increase by 50% to over 120,000 in the next 20 years, it's vital that people are better informed about the steps they can take to reduce the risk of developing it, and if they are diagnosed, how to live well with it.

We offer a range of services for people who want to increase their awareness of dementia and how to support people living with it, understanding and realising your rights as a carer,  and getting involved in shaping policy and campaigns.

Health and Wellbeing

Everyone can take steps for healthier and happier ageing, whatever their circumstances and age.

We publish guides and articles on healthy ageing topics and offer training and resources to paid staff and volunteers who support older people in Scotland.  Our emphasis is on simple and practical measures that everyone can take to age better, including moving more, eating well, and staying hydrated.

Older Ex-Armed Forces

Anyone who has served one day and more with the British Armed Forces as a Regular, Reservist, National Serviceman or Merchant Mariner may be entitled to extra opportunities and support, which can help in later life.
